My Journey Into Nutrition

Hi, I'm Nikki, as a fully qualified and registered nutritional therapist, my key areas are; energy, weight loss, hormone and gut health, I would love to show you how the power of nutrition can help you reach your health goals, ultimately we all want to feel good within ourselves, and I know you do too.

My journey into nutrition started by my own experiences with gut and hormone imbalances in my 20s. I've walked the same road you may be on now, and I understand the challenges you face. My experiences have enabled me to understand where you may be on your health journey, but most importantly it has equipped me with the knowledge and expertise to navigate through the confusion with clarity.

I'm here to help you cut through the guesswork and support you to achieve tangible results. With me, you're not just getting guidance; you're gaining a practitioner who truly understands where you are and where you want to be.

In my early 20s, I faced a daunting challenge when my gut health took a hit due to the prolonged use of antibiotics for acne, which, little did I know, was an early sign of hormonal imbalance. It upset my gut microbiome and set the stage for the symptoms that followed.

Bloating, pain, and constipation became my unwelcome companions, and I felt like I was constantly 6 months pregnant. Struggling to fit into my clothes, I couldn't recognise myself and felt miserable. To make matters worse, my weekends were filled with binge drinking, which only fuelled my symptoms.

Desperate for a solution, I sought help from my GP, who suggested eating more fruit and handed me a prescription for a fibre drink. Unfortunately, this only made things worse. I realised that a change was long overdue.

My journey toward relief led me to the profound benefits of holistic well-being and understanding what truly worked for me. In my 30s, I took a leap of faith and retrained as a Nutritional Therapist at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in Bristol. Balancing my studies with a full-time job, wedding planning, and a bustling social life took its toll on my stress levels, and I hit a low point.

The relentless stress manifested as mood swings, insomnia, low moods, and a non-existent libido. I felt drained and disconnected from the joyful, vibrant person I used to be, which strained my relationships with loved ones.

Realising that I needed to change, I finally underwent testing and discovered that most of my hormones were out of balance. Despite thinking I was healthy, my results told a different story and marked the beginning of my journey to recovery.

Through dietary adjustments, lifestyle changes, and targeted supplements, I began to regain my sense of self and boost my confidence. While I'm not claiming to be "perfect" now in my late 40s, I've found a balance that works for me, and it's a continuous journey toward well-being.
